ADVERTISING OPPORTUNITY ON NEW SCORECARDS AND COURSE PLANNERS.
04/02/2010

There has been a need to undertake a new course measurement to establish the exact yardages of each hole throughout the White, Yellow and Red Courses. This follows concerns that the measurements shown on the card differed from those shown on the tee plates and on some holes there was a doubt if either was correct.

The new measurements reveal significant differences on many holes and overall each of the three courses was shorter than previously thought. The variation is not sufficient to require a new Standard Scratch for the course nor has there been a need to alter the par or the stroke index for each hole.

However there is a need to correct the yardages shown on both the scorecard and tee plates. The amendments of the tee plates will be completed in house at a modest cost and the changes to the scorecard give us the opportunity to review the whole document.

The present scorecard contains a course planner which is probably not used by most club members. They are more beneficial to visitors and it is felt a separate course planner would be more appropriate which would be purchased via the Club Professional. The card must contain the actual scorecard and the local rules. The remainder can be used for advertising and a valuable source of income to the club to offset the costs of producing the scorecards.

At present our supplier seeks out and secures the revenue from the advertising leading to a discounted cost to the club. However discussions with an alternative supplier indicates considerable savings would accrue if the Club received the income from advertising and used that to pay for the scorecards at little or no cost to the club. Similarly course planners could be produced and the club would benefit from both advertising and sales of the course planners.

Work is ongoing with the supplier to develop both the scorecard and the course planner. Advertisers on the current scorecard have indicated a wish to transfer to our card but there is space available for new advertisers. The size and cost will vary but prior to searching the open market it is felt that Club Members be given the opportunity to indicate if they wish to advertise their company etc.

Those interested are asked to contact Club Secretary as soon as possible and hopefully we can accommodate all requests.
