MEN

  • Tuesday is Conies day which is primarily focussed on introducing new members to the rules and etiquette of golf although the section is open to ALL male members. The playing season coincides with the start and end of British Summer Time. There are a number of Gold Leaf Competitions played during the season over 14 holes with the winners names displayed on the notice boards located in the bar and the foyer of the Clubhouse. The weekly stableford competition progresses from 9 holes (March & April), to 12 holes(May), then 14 holes (June, July & August) as the evening light improves. However, entry can be made at any time during the day and reduces from 14 to 12 holes (September) to 9 holes (October) as the evening light diminishes. The players also compete for a Merit Table, Birdie League and Gross & Nett Eclectic with all prizes awarded at the Presentation night on the last playing Tuesday of the season. The evening includes a complimentary basket meal and the Club President, Club Captain and Lady Captain are usually in attendance to present the trophies. The cost is £3.00 per event.  An Away Day may also be organised depending on demand.

  • On a Thursday evening there is a Stableford Competition open to all men members. For further details contact the Club Professional on 02920 594371 (Option 2) or Ken Howells on 029 2021 2347. Players also compete for a Merit Table and the highlight of the season is a dinner held in October each year. Entry to the competition  is £2.

  • The Friday Society runs a competition on similar lines to the Conies but, unlike the Conies, the competition is run independently of the Professional. The highlight of their season is an annual Away Day. A weekly levy of £2 is a contribution towards the golf prizes and players also pay a minimum of £5 per week as a way of saving to cover the costs of the away day.

  • The men’s Senior Section play Social golf on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings, teeing off between 09:00am and 09:30am. The cost of their Wednesday weekday Competitions is £1. They also organise home and away Friendly matches against other local clubs with each player contributing £10 towards the cost of post-match food. The Seniors also host an Open Day which usually is held in July each year. Membership of the section is open to anyone aged 55 and over and costs £10 per annum.

  • The Grossers Society meets on a Wednesday, teeing off at 11.00 am. The highlight of their Season is the Christmas Dinner when a variety of prizes are presented by Brian Thomas and they are entertained royally by those within the group who are of a musical and/or comical ilk. The cost of their competitions is £1.
